
Mercedes Montero
Mercedes Montero is a Plain Language and Inclusive Communication expert. She’s a certified sworn English-Spanish translator with more than twenty-years’ experience working in this industry, providing linguistic services to private clients and to a wide range of institutions and agencies, mainly dealing with legal documentation and educational contents.
With a distinguished educational background, Mercedes was awarded her B.A. in English-Spanish Translation, complemented by another B.A. in English teaching and an M.A. in Spanish Language and Literature.
Mechi’s expertise is underlined by her certifications as a Legal Translator from UCEL and as a Business English Teacher from the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI). Her proficiency extends beyond academic qualifications, as she actively engages with clients from all over the world to help them solve their linguistic needs with a special focus on multicultural audiences, effective and inclusive communication, and respect for diversity.
Over the last ten years she’s been teaching English and Spanish Grammar, Linguistics, English and Spanish Contrastive Analysis, among other related courses included in different Translation programs in Argentina. She has delivered more than twenty training courses and workshops for translators, interpreters and other language professionals.
She has always been an active member of different professional organizations, including the Argentine Association of Translators and Interpreters (AATI). In 2017, she was appointed as the head of the Translators’ Professional Association of the Province of Santa Fe, Second District. Her commitment to advancing the field of Plain Language both in English and Spanish is evidenced by the courses and talks she delivers on this topic for translator, interpreters and other language services providers to develop their writing skills focusing on the audience’s needs.
