Cynthia Penovi is the co-owner of Argentum Translations and an influential leader in the translation industry. With a distinguished educational background, Cynthia earned her B.A. in English-Spanish Technical, Scientific, and Literary Translation, complemented by an M.A. in Art and Communication.
Cynthia's expertise is underlined by her certifications as an English-Spanish Translator (CT) from the American Translators Association (ATA) and a Spanish Medical Interpreter (CMI) from the National Board of Certification for Medical Interpreters (NBCMI). Her proficiency extends beyond academic qualifications, as she actively engages with national and international clients to effectively bridge language gaps in highly specialized domains.
She has been an active member of different professional organizations, including the Argentine Association of Translators and Interpreters (AATI) and the Carolina Association of Translators and Interpreters (CATI). Her commitment to advancing the field is further evidenced by her role on the Leadership Council of the Translation Company Division within the ATA, where she collaborates with other industry leaders to shape the future of translation and interpreting, fostering knowledge exchange and promoting collaboration among professionals.
In addition to her contributions to the field, Cynthia is a published author, offering invaluable insights in her book "Translating Dreams into Dollars: The Guide to Success as a Freelance Translator in the US", as well as practical tips for aspiring translators to navigate the business landscape with confidence.
Furthermore, Cynthia has developed a serious interest in holistic well-being, which enhances her study of language work in contexts involving trauma. Her exploration of mindfulness, meditation, and breathing underscores her commitment to understanding the profound impact of mental and emotional states on communication. By becoming a Certified Yoga Teacher (RYT 250) at Asheville Community Yoga in 2022 and actively participating in workshops and retreats worldwide, including silent retreats in Chiang Mai, Thailand, and pranayama workshops in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Cynthia deepens her insights into the interconnectedness of mind, body, and language.
